Nicolien
(Communicatie & PR)

Hallo! Mijn naam is Nicolien.

Vier mooie reizen in vier hele bijzondere landen!

Ngoidi
(FairBeads team Nairobi & Maralal, Kenia)

My name is Ngoidi. I am 18 years old and graduated in high school  in 2018. I joined Daystar University in Nairobi in 2019 and now am in my second year of Accountancy.

In the samburu community that I come from, girls don't go to school. They are circumcised and married off at an early age, as early as 9years old. I was lucky to get education through a community based organisation called SEED samburu. It was founded and coordinated by a Dutch lady; Miriam Winkel. The owner of FairBeads (Malou) and Miriam know eachother and that's how we met!

I first met Malou 8 years ago. She came to visit us in our place in Maralal. By then she was working with my mom Miriam. And now we are going to work together!

I wanted to work with FairBeads because it makes an impact on lives. The ladies that we are going to work with are mostly widows and single mothers. The beadwork will really make a difference in their lives. I have seen it for myself years ago.

I will be very consistent with my work so that I can deliver the best designs and quality of jewellery!

Neema
(FairBeads team Nairobi, Kenia)

Ang'asa Malowa

Hey! My name is Neema – a smiley Kenyan in love with travel and art; even more the kind you can wear!

For the past few years, I have worked with communities across East Africa on a number of humanitarian programs and in the process, met Malou. Through my work, I have had the chance to see, first hand, what access to opportunities can do to transform the quality of life for many households and this is why Malou’s work and vision at Fairbeads resonates with me. Beadwork is a trade that goes back many years in our countries; each community with patterns and colors as diverse as its people. Fairbeads’ partnership with local artisans is a great way to showcase their product and in a way, share a part of our culture far and wide.

And what do I do at Fairbeads? I keep an eye out for new designs and talent from Kenya and I have to say, this is a journey I am bound to love.

Laura
(Grafisch ontwerp)

Laura

My name is Cindy Anyiko,

I love creating beautiful accessories and making people feel really good about themselves when they wear them. I own a small fashion business called Laheri based in Kenya, a lovely country in East Africa.

I like to work with recycled brass for my jewellery as it is sustainable and there is a rustic beauty to brass that I am drawn to. I design the pieces and work with an artisan who runs a small workshop that in turn employs 4 people and sometimes even more depending on the amount of work to be done.

I was introduced to Malou by her sister in law after she purchased a necklace from me and loved it. I am very excited to collaborate with Malou and broaden the reach of our work into other countries.

Nakutakia kila Laheri - I wish for you all that is good!
